Local authorities

AFOS is a unique partnership of Local Government Authorities dedicated to the pledge of the Armed Forces Covenant.

Our current Local Government partnership members are:

• Durham County Council
• Gateshead Council (lead organisation)
• Newcastle City Council
  

Housing companies

AFOS is based at Gateshead Civic Centre within the Housing Services team, Gateshead Council.

Our housing company partnership members provide training, support and expert advice for our workers. Much of AFOS’ work involves helping clients with housing matters, so being based in housing is ideal for our team.

The Armed Forces Outreach Service is partnering with Walking With The Wounded (WWTW) to deliver a project in the North East to support ex-servicemen and women, their families and carers.

For some ex-servicemen and women - those that perhaps need more significant support - the route to care can look complex and often inaccessible.

Collaborative working is key to the success of The Armed Forces Outreach Service.

To assist us to provide a holistic service and to support our clients to tackle the many challenges, issues and problems members of our Armed Forces Community face, we work with a large number of like-minded organisations and charities who have the Armed Forces Community at the heart of everything they do.
